Peder Balke hails from Norway and was famous for painting the breathtaking Norwegian landscapes, but probably most famous for his depictions of the North Cape. Peder BalkeĀ is an oil on canvas master but its only now that he’s gained wide recognition as one of the forerunners of modernism. This is the first time his work has ever been in the U.K. over a thousand years after his death, these are only a few of the paintings that are on display at The National gallery from now until April 12th 2015 so don’t miss out.
