During the 90s Dan Higgs worked among the giants of the American tattoo world, including alongside Ed Hardy and Freddy Corbin at Hardy’s Tattoo City studio in San Francisco. While he no longer formally works as a tattooer, he is undoubtedly one of the most influential tattooers of the 20th Century – as any one of the new wave of ‘traditional’ tattooers would agree. His tattoos are characterised by a certain looseness of both theme and execution, making it remarkably bold.
Within the tattoo community his work is kept somewhat insulated, but here are a few tattoos and paintings of his found lurking in the electrical etherea of the internet, along with a song by the Higgs’s fantastic Dischord band Lungfish.
