Young Fathers recently scooped the Mercury Prize for their album Dead. The Edinburgh trio’s brand of alternative, trippy but soulful hip-hop has started to catch the ears of the wider public. It caught our ears too, but the awesome music video for I Heard took us down another path – the path of the split screen music video. It’s a trippy effect that encapsulates Young Fathers’ trippy vibe, and their straddling of, and resitence to categorisation. This being said, its an effect that can express a plethora of ideas and feelings. So check these 6 split-screen music videos out (inspired by Young Fathers, who you should also check out!)
